Those can vary quite a bit in size depending on the number of saves you have and the amount of CC and Store content you have installed.įinally, the above is hard drive space, not RAM. That's not counting your user files in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 and Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection folders. Town Life: 145 MB (or 0.14 GB if I did my math correct) Right clicking and choosing properties gives me the following folder sizes: Note, if you have a 32 bit version of windows they'll be in Program Files (without the (x86) part). I bought everything though Origin, if you installed via disk the folder locations may be slightly different.Īnyways, game folders on my computer are in C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games. You didn't say what OS you have and I don't know Mac anyways, so the following is for PC. You can determine the size by going to the installed folders. If you have more than 20 Gb free in your hard drive you are probably ok to go. My opinion is play the sims 2 and if it doesn't play smoothly even on medium settings don't even bother installing the sims 3.Īnd check the system requirements, they are written on the box.Įdit: I just realised you already have the sims 3 installed  What matters is the graphics card, CPU and the RAM memory. Generally, it doesn't matter so much how much space in the hard drive a game takes, most computers have more than enough for that. It's an old game with less system requirements than the sims 3.

And my laptop doesn't heat up, which is the main reason I play sims2 now. It runs much smoother, no lag, minor glitches that come and go very quickly. The sims 2 ultimate collection is around 16Gb (as I remember when I downloaded a few days back). It plays with settings on high, whereas only with a couple expansions packs the sims 3 is on medium. I'm not an expert at computers and I don't know how much space your sims 3 games take, but what I noticed in my laptop is that the sims 2 is far more easy to handle. If anyone can tell me how big each of them is, or tell me how can i find out that would be great. But if sims 2 ask for a much bigger space, I will have to give it up. If they are almost equal I will just uninstall everything and install sims 2. So in order to let my laptop run faster and less lag for me, I want to compare the currently size of stuff I installed and see how much Sims 2 need for that. I recently got the Sims 2 and all of it's collection and really want to play it, however, my laptop is not a gaming laptop and if I install sims 2 and sims 3 at the same time, I don't think it will be too happy. I have around 5-6 expansion pack of the Sims 3 right now. I want to ask if anyone know or can tell me where to find the information about how big Sims 3 base game and each separate expansion is. Hi everyone, this is my first time posting a new topic.
